Overview

Thomson Reuters Onvio is a cloud-based tax and accounting software. It's designed to simplify financial complexities and and aid accounting practices. It is a successor to their previous local software solution, with many improvements. As Onvio sees updates and improvements, so does their design system and UX patterns.

  • I was enlisted to deliver high-fidelity UI/UX design for navigational structural components and patterns across multiple distinct yet interlinked applications. The task involved identifying consistent and easily discoverable patterns within a complex suite of applications, all tailored to the perspective of tax preparation professionals.

  • Using an in-progress design system, my team needed to deliver a detailed analysis of current conventions for existing applications, along with a final recommendation of patterns and layout. The goal was to bring about recognizable uniformity with minimal disruption for new beta software testers.

  • In my role as the UX designer for this project, I conducted benchmarking research of the client’s existing applications to establish a baseline of currently used patterns and layout.

Collaborating with the UX Lead or Design Director and the Client, I clarified the project's challenges, defined effective patterns.

On a weekly basis, I presented my progress to the client to ensure alignment with the intended final outcomes and project timeline.

My contributions encompassed Figma designs, ranging from low-to-high fidelity, addressing potential user flows and layouts. Additionally, I updated pixel-perfect icons contributing to the design system.

  • During the process of understanding intricate products used by data-driven end users with essential work-related habits, which proved challenging to grasp within a three-month timeframe, we successfully formulated conclusive recommendations rooted in user research and sound design logic. The benchmarking exercise significantly enriched the team, and our audit and contributions to the design system facilitated notable advancements in various other aspects.
