Overview

Nearly all Microsoft projects were conceptual in nature; exploring methods for improving discoverability of elements, new UX patterns to increase KPIs or user adoption, or simply communicate a new or change in feature. All projects started with some level of benchmarking or competitive analysis and a review of UXR that had been conducted. Our clients were typically project managers pitching these ideas to senior leadership for adoption. Our deliverables were high-fidelity prototypes that utilized the Fluent design system.

  • Most products I worked on were conceptual in nature for initial reviews within top-level leadership in order to procure buy-in and budget to move forward with projects. The largest challenge then became finding the right mix of adhering to current design systems and standards and creating new conventions or patterns.

Other challenges included adherence to scope in order to accomplish the primary goals of the projects.

  • Project goals were always to deliver the necessary flows that tell the best story possible in a clear and concise manner.

  • As the UX designer on these projects, I provided benchmarking research to give us baselines for competitors across multiple platforms.

I worked with the UX Lead or Design Director and Client to clarify the problems, decide on effective user stories and ultimately craft the user flows the client needed.

I presented work to the client each week to ensure we’re on track with the desired final deliverables and within the timeframe for the project.

I provided Figma low-to-high fidelity designs for possible user flows and messaging solutions, as well as the final Figma prototype, micro-animations and custom components based on the client’s design system.

  • Every team I've been a part of has consistently posted their requested deliverables on time and in line with the project manager's expectations. We conduct thorough reviews of the final deliverables alongside the client, ensuring they possess all necessary materials for presentations to their internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
